Rules updated: November 14, 2009

The Host can be identified by a red rope sash. The Chief DM on duty will identify with a double lighted arm band. Other DMs and Shadow DMs can be identified by their orange lighted arm bands or red sashes. NEW: Play spaces are clearly marked. Please do not watch scenes or socialize within the marked play area.

  1. Obey the dungeon/play monitors ("DMs"). The job of a DM is to facilitate the safe and smooth operation of the event and the play spaces in particular. If necessary, the Chief DM will intervene in your scene to address a safety concern; if so, this will be done in a manner intended to disrupt your scene as little as possible. If you can correct the safety concern your scene will be allowed to continue. If you are unable or unwilling to correct the concern, the scene will be stopped. NEW: If you wish to engage in a scene longer then an hour, please check with a DM first. If you are unhappy with the way the situation is handled, feel free to discuss your concern with the Chief DM (usually wearing two lighted arm bands) after ending your scene. In all cases, the Chief DM's decision is final.

  2. The house safe words are "RED", and "SAFEWORD" and must be uttered loudly enough for the nearest DM to hear. DMs will always attempt to intervene without undue interruption of scenes in progress. "RED" means there is a problem and play needs to cease at least temporarily. You will be allowed a reasonable chance to respond before a DM intervenes. Use of the word "SAFEWORD" means that immediate intervention from a DM is required. Anyone may call "SAFEWORD" if assistance is desired. Please don't hesitate to track down a DM if none is available within hearing range. Gagged bottoms must be provided with an unambiguous safe signal such as an object that can be dropped and seen/heard.

  3. Proper scene etiquette is required.Do not participate in a scene without an explicit invitation/permission from the people playing. Please avoid intruding into other people's scenes, and be courteous to those around you. If your scene becomes so noisy that it disturbs others, a DM may ask that you lower the noise level; noisy or vocal bottoms may wish to bring an effective gag for use in this situation and a drop signal to substitute for a safeword. Please clean the play stations after use using the supplies provided. Please limit scenes to an hour to be considerate of others who are waiting for equipment. Some types of activities may have to be limited due to space or safety considerations.

  4. No alcohol or intoxicated persons. This is an unlicensed event. Alcohol and other intoxicants are not permitted. Persons who appear intoxicated will be asked to leave.

  5. Penetrative and/or oral sex is permitted in limited areas. Penile penetration of the vagina or anus, and oral contact with the genitals or anus, are permitted only in the marked area. There is minimal risk that if police arrive, you could be charged with participating in an indecent act. Do this at your own risk. Attendees are responsible for proper use and disposal of safer sex materials such as condoms, gloves and other bio-contaminated materials. We provide condoms, gloves, blue pads and a sharps container for your safety and easy cleanup. Please dispose of bio-contaminated materials in the marked receptacles provided. NEW: Public masturbation may only occur as part of a scene. Anyone caught spanking the monkey who isn't part of a scene will be asked to stop once with a warning to stop or be asked to leave the party. No refunds will be given for rule violations.

  6. Breath play and choking are restricted. Momentary stopping of respiration is limited to 3-4 seconds using only the hands. Compression or constriction of the neck/throat is prohibited.

  7. Electrical play is permitted only below the waist.Violet wands may be used anywhere on the body except the face. Other electrical play devices may be used only below the waist, and must be attached to a commercial grade surge protector.

  8. Piercing or cuttings are permitted.Needle play and cuttings are permitted in limited areas. Check with a DM if you're not sure where they are. You are required to use a drop sheet and wear gloves (even if you're fluid bonded) and use a sharps container for disposal of all bio-contaminated sharps (needles, scalpels, etc.) and bag the other bio-contaminated waste materials before putting them in with the other garbage. Embedded sutures with the needle removed and medical staples may be left in place if there is no bleeding. Impact and other causes of potential blood-spray over open wounds is not permitted. Please cover them with a bandage before continuing play.

  9. Medical scenes beyond piercing and cutting are permitted, but before you play, please advise the Chief DM to ensure that appropriate accommodations can be made, as necessary.

  10. Fire and wax play are permitted, but before you play, please advise put down a drop cloth. When you are done, please clean your play space thoroughly (especially after wax play).

  11. Hazardous or unsafe activities are prohibited. Activities which, in the opinion of the Chief DM, carry an unreasonable risk of injury (to the individuals involved or the attendees in general) are prohibited. This includes bondage that depends on a bottom's cooperation or balance to avoid the risk of acute injury; obviously "unclean" techniques; impact on cuts or open wounds; or punching directly over the heart or kidneys. Certain other activities (e.g. surgical body mods) are not permitted as the play space area is not properly equipped for these. NEVER leave a person you are playing with unattended. Please do not ask the DMs to watch your play partner(s) for you, even temporarily, as DMs must be able to move freely to focus on multiple scenes.

  12. NEW: Absolutely NO Photography No photography is permitted. Persons caught taking pictures will have their cell phones or cameras taken by the Chief DM and returned with the photos deleted at the end of their evening.

  13. To request a piece of play equipment or space that is currently in use, please ask the DMs on duty if anybody else is waiting for that equipment or station and advise the DM of your interest. The DMs will let others know that someone is waiting for it, if asked. If you are unavailable when the equipment or station becomes free, others will be given the opportunity to use that space.

  14. Special scenes can be negotiated in advance. If you have a scene you would like to do at BENT, please speak to the Chief DM to see if it can be arranged in advance. Scenes that involve illegal activities or activities that compromise the confidentiality or safety of attendees are not negotiable. If your scene requires special equipment, spaces, extra monitoring or other requirements, please be sure to indicate those requirements in discussing the needs of your special scene. We cannot guarantee that all special scenes can be accommodated. NEW: You MUST have permission from the Chief DM before beginning any scene that will require large amounts of space, create a lot of mess, or include sustained noise from the players or interfere with other scenes in progress.
